CO2 Systems

Absolutely Chilled supplies advanced CO2 refrigeration systems by REFRA – built for high efficiency, future compliance, and environmental responsibility. With natural refrigerant R744 (CO2), our solutions are PFAS-free and fully aligned with F-Gas phase-down targets.

Why Choose CO2 Systems?

Efficient. Compliant. Built for the future.

Natural refrigerant CO2 (R744) offers a proven, regulation-ready alternative to HFC-based systems, combining environmental performance with excellent cooling capacity and system flexibility. With a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of just 1, it enables businesses to meet current and future F-Gas and PFAS restrictions without sacrificing performance.

Whether used in transcritical or subcritical systems, CO2 delivers consistent results across medium- and low-temperature applications, from small-format retail sites to large-scale industrial cooling. It supports advanced system design, including cascade configurations, parallel compression, heat recovery, and integration with existing plant infrastructure.

Transcritical CO2 Systems

Transcritical CO2 systems are ideal for commercial refrigeration in high ambient conditions, offering efficient, future-ready performance using natural refrigerant R744 (GWP 1). With no PFAS risk and inherent F-Gas compliance, they’re the preferred choice for supermarkets, logistics hubs and centralised plant rooms seeking long-term reliability and environmental alignment.

Subcritical CO2 Systems

Subcritical CO2 systems are engineered for reliable, high-efficiency performance in lower ambient conditions (–10°C to +15°C), making them ideal for cold storage, blast freezers and industrial process cooling. Operating at lower pressures with natural refrigerant R744, they deliver strong energy savings and regulatory compliance. When used in cascade systems with refrigerants like propylene (R1270), they achieve very low temperatures while maintaining a high COP – even in warmer climates where conventional systems lose efficiency.
